I like the Cardinals to bounce back in a big way on Sunday afternoon but I'll take my wager to the run line with the better odds.
Both games in this series have been tight, each decided by just 1 run. While the Cardinals are down 0-2, it’s not as if they’ve been outplayed—just edged in key moments. On Sunday, they get a great opportunity to finish the first half strong with Gray on the mound. Gray has been excellent at Busch Stadium this season, posting a 6-1 record at home with his only loss coming back on May 2.
The Cardinals have been better at home than they’ve shown in this series, holding a solid 28-20 record and hitting .263 as a team—sixth-best in MLB. Meanwhile, the Braves have struggled away from Atlanta, sitting at just 18-30 on the road and batting only .232 outside Truist Park, which ranks ninth-worst in the majors.
Atlanta hasn’t named a starter yet, suggesting a likely bullpen day to close out the first half. That gives a clear advantage to St. Louis, which will be motivated to avoid the sweep and head into the break with some momentum. Take the Cardinals to win big on Sunday.
Even with Gray on the mound, the trends strongly favor the Over on Sunday. The Over has cashed in 4 of the last 5 meetings between the teams, including both games in this series. It’s also hit in 4 of Atlanta’s last 5 games and is 6-1-1 in St. Louis’ last 8. Ride the wave and back the Over in the series finale.
